How can I enter the SMS service center (SMSC) number manually?

    If you can’t send, but only receive, text messages, you might need to set the SMS service center number (SMSC) manually. The SMS service center number is stored on your SIM card and is dependent on your network operator. Contact your network operator for the correct SMS service center number.

    Xperia™ phones with a single SIM card running Android™ 4.0 or higher, and dual SIM card phones running Android™ 4.4 or higher

    To set or change the SMS service center number on your SIM card

    1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
    2. Find and tap Phone.
    3. If the dialpad does not appear, tap the dialpad icon.
    4. Type *#*#4636#*#*.
    5. Tap Phone information.
    6. Scroll down to SMSC.
    7. Tap Refresh to get the current number and the format it uses. If Refresh error or Update error appears, contact your network operator.
    8. Enter the relevant SMSC number in the input field using the correct format, then tap Update. If Update error appears, contact your network operator.

    To set or change the SMS service center number on your SIM card

    1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
    2. Find and tap Messaging.
    3. Tap the menu button (three vertical dots), then tap Settings.
    4. Under SIM settings, tap the SIM card for which you want to change the SMS service center number, then tap SMS center number and enter the relevant SMSC number in the input field.

    Note! If you can't edit the SMS service center number, contact your network operator for more information. Also if you are not receiving SMS , please contact network operator.

    To set or change the SMS service center number on your SIM card

    1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
    2. Find and tap Phone.
    3. Type *#*#4636#*#*.
    4. Tap Phone information.
    5. Scroll down to SMSC.
    6. Enter the relevant SMSC number in the input field, then tap Update. The SMS service center number now gets updated on the default  SIM card.
    7. If you want to change the SMS service center number on the other SIM card, you have to set the other SIM card as the default SIM card, then restart the phone and repeat steps 2 to 6.
