    There is no sound

Q1: Sound does not come out from Handy TV speaker when the external devices connected to the TV via the AV amp.
A1: Connect external devices to the TV directly. When the external devices such as Blu-ray Disc player are connected to the TV via the AV amp, audio signals are not output from the AV amp to the TV.

    Q2: Sound suddenly stopped playing.
A2: Sound may have stopped due to power shutting off by Auto Shut OFF function. Press SPEAKER power button on Handy TV speaker to turn on the power.

    NOTES:

Q3: After installing Handy TV speaker, sound stopped coming out of the TV.
A3: Depending on the model of TV, connecting the TV and Transmitter via Audio cable may cause the TV speakers to go mute. Make the connection via Optical audio cable to allow sound to come out of TV speakers and Handy TV speaker at the same time. If connection via Optical audio cable is not possible, you may be able to allow sound to come out of both speakers by changing your TV’s audio output settings. For details, refer to the instruction manual of the TV.

Q4: TV and Transmitter are connected via Optical audio cable, but no sound comes out of Handy TV speaker.
A4: Check that Digital audio out is set to PCM. The following is an example of how to perform settings on some Sony TVs.

    1. Press the Home  button on the remote control.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select Sound in the TV category.
    4. Select Digital audio out, then set to PCM.

    Volume/sound quality is unstable

Q1: When changing the TV volume, Handy TV speaker volume changes at the same time.
A1: This situation occurs when the TV and Transmitter are connected via the Audio cable. To prevent this issue, connect via Optical audio cable.
If connection via the Optical audio cable is not possible, check the following.

    For Sony Android TV™ models:
When adjusting the TV’s headphone volume, sometimes it is only possible to adjust Handy TV speaker. Check the following operation.

    • Press the ACTION MENU button on the remote control while watching TV.
    • Select Headphone volume.
    • Press Volume + or Volume - button to adjust the volume.

NOTE: When no sound comes out of the TV speaker and Handy TV speaker at the same time, check the following. Also, depending on the model of TV, it may not be possible to play sound from the TV speaker and Handy TV speaker at the same time.

    1. Press the Home button on the remote control.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select Sound in the TV category.
      • For Android™ OS6(M):
Select Headphone speaker link, then select Speakers on.
      • For Android OS7(N):
Select Audio to both TV speakers & other devices, then set to On.

For Sony TVs not listed above/non-Sony TVs:
If you can fix the headphone output settings, change the settings. For details, refer to the instruction manual of the TV.

    Q2: I sometimes hear noise.
A2: If you hear noise from the Handy TV speaker, the following may be the cause of the issue.

    • Mobile phones or other devices that transmit radio waves
Noise can sometimes be caused by radio waves generated just before and after mobile phone use, as well as when sending and receiving phone calls. Use these kinds of devices away from Handy TV speaker.
    • Cable not properly connected
Check that Audio cable is firmly inserted into the TV’s headphone terminal.
NOTE: When the TV’s headphone terminal is dirty, it may cause poor connection. If this is the case, remove and reinsert Audio cable several times or clean it with a cotton swab or something similar.
    • Effect of silence
When the Handy TV speaker is ON and in silent mode, noise (such as whooshing) may be heard. Noise is connected to the volume, so if it bothers you lower the volume.

    Q3: Sound sometimes cuts out.
A3: When Handy TV speaker is close to microwave ovens, wireless LAN routers, Wi-Fi equipped devices and other wireless devices that use 2.4 GHz band frequency, they may cause sound to cut out. If sound cuts out frequently, turn wireless devices off before hand or use Handy TV speaker as far away from such devices as possible.

Conditions and situations in which may be caused by wireless device interference:

    • If sound cuts out for less than 1 sec. continuously or several times over a short period, it may be the result of wireless device interference.
    • If sound cuts out for longer than 1 sec., it may be the result of microwave oven interference.
    • If there is a smartphone or tablet nearby, it may be transmitting Wi-Fi signals even if the screen is off, so it may cause interference.

NOTE: If TV and Transmitter are connected via Optical audio cable, sound may cut out if cable is not properly connected. Firmly insert the cable into both the TV and Transmitter until you hear a click.

    Other How to use

Q1: What is the difference between Weak and Strong on AUTO VOLUME function?
A1: When the surrounding sound becomes too loud, AUTO VOLUME automatically increases the volume of Handy TV speaker. If it is set to Strong, the volume increases more than if it is set to Weak.
