How do I set default apps? (Android 9 or Higher)

Solution

It is possible to replace a default app with a third-party app, for example, changing the browser from Chrome to Firefox. You can change the following default apps:

• Assist & voice input/Assist app/Digital assistant app
• Browser app
• Home app
• Phone app
• SMS app
• Tap & pay (Android 9)

To set a default app

1. Find and tap Settings > Apps & notifications / (Apps) > Default apps.
2. Tap the type of app you want to set, and then tap the app you want to use as default.
