How do I turn off device protection?

    Information / Solution

    Remove your Google account(s) from the device to disable device protection.

    To remove a Google account

    Android 9.0 or Higher

    1. Find and tap Settings → Accounts / Passwords and accounts.
    2. Tap a Google account.
    3. Tap REMOVE ACCOUNT → REMOVE ACCOUNT.
    4. If this is the only Google account on the phone, you'll need to enter your phone's pattern, PIN, or password for security.
    5. Repeat the procedure for additional accounts.

    Android 8.x

    1. Find and tap Settings → Users & accounts.
    2. Tap a Google account.
    3. Tap REMOVE ACCOUNT → REMOVE ACCOUNT.
    4. If this is the only Google account on the device, you'll need to enter your device's pattern, PIN, or password for security.
    5. Repeat the procedure for additional accounts.

    Android 6.0 or 7.x

    1. Find and tap Settings → Accounts & sync.
    2. Tap a Google account.
    3. Tap REMOVE ACCOUNT → REMOVE ACCOUNT.
