Shoot in ultra-slow motion without losing any of the detail. With the Xperia PRO-I you can shoot in 4K HDR 120fps quality and choose you own frame rate settings, up to 5x slow motion.

Philip:
Straightaway, the thing that excited me is the size of sensor – it’s a 1.0-type sensor, which is almost four times the surface area of a standard mobile phone sensor. And having that larger sensor, it is capable of a shallower depth of field. You have bigger pixels, which means it soaks up more light, which means it’s better in low light. And also, by having those bigger pixels on a larger area, it means that image is just less noisy full stop.
On the main camera, you do have two separate apertures. So you have the F2.0, so you’re getting shutter with depth of field, soak in more light, but you also could stop down to F4.0, so it’s a smaller aperture, which means you have a greater depth of field.
The amazing eye autofocus in video tracks animals’ eyes, which is amazing, and probably the most exciting feature actually, when I first heard about it. It also does people, if you want to film people.

Xperia has a brand new on the go solution called Videography Pro that combines all the features that a run and gun filmmaker like me needs. I can access different lenses, cine looks, and switch apertures between F2.0 and F4.0. I can go auto or manual and all the controls are intuitive and responsive.
I can trick it out with a ton of accessories: an external mic on top, a multifunctional grip where I can zoom in and out, and also a portable vlog monitor. This is really great because you can still use the rear cameras and I can still see myself. It’s honestly crazy that I’m recording this on a phone because it looks like a movie. It’s so good!
One might think that being a YouTuber means that image is everything, which it is, yes, but audio is just as important…it’s very distracting if it’s not good.
Xperia has added a third unidirectional microphone and it almost has the effect like you’re just there with the person. It also has a sound source separator that uses an intelligent wind filter. What that means is they’ve figured out how to deal with the biggest sound killer in the field, wind!
And just like shooting with my Sony Alpha cameras, it has optical image stabilisation. That way I have assurance that my image is going to be steady, it’s not going to be shaky. Shaky video footage is always very, very distracting.

Hear what vlogger AUXOUT has to say about creating content with the Xperia PRO-I.
Based in Tokyo, AUXOUT is a weekend filmmaker/photographer with a passion for creating ‘Cinematic Vlogs’ – everyday experiences shot with a cinematic approach.
AUXOUT:
Conventional smartphone camera apps are very simple and easy to use for anyone, but can be frustrating for professionals and those familiar with cameras. Videography Pro makes the best out of smartphone video shooting. This was easy to use and let me quickly change settings like ISO and frame rate to suit the situation. You can switch to AUTO mode with a single touch, and this was also convenient when you want to shoot casually.
Honestly, 4K 120fps shooting was also surprising. Scenes happening in an instant which is hard to see will turn into an emotional scene with the 5x slow motion.
It’s amazing that a smartphone can replace a compact digital camera I used to carry around as a substitute camera.
Many “creative” people are very particular about the quality of their output, even for their private content. So I think Xperia PRO-I will be a great main camera for those people.
