Good phone Great performance Good camera Recording the best

The phone is amazing, it like all Xperia's has a great camera, battery life and hand feel. But there are no longer software updates and it doesn't have a headphone jack unlike my new Sony Xperia 5 IV

Lovely build quality. Nice stock Android experience. For the first iteration of this model it has done a great job for 4 years. Camera button is a killer feature, as is the finger print scanner on the side. The camera is excellent and still stands up. Not brilliant in low light. Enough manual settings to make keep photography interning but auto settings do a great job. Records excellent video also. Cinema Pro produces some great results if you have a little more time on your hands Screen is great for watching streamed media. Lovely and clear. There are image enhancement features but I haven't foun I need them. The stock setup is very good. Had a snag with the fingerprint scanner early on but Sony replaced it free of charge. Whilst with them they found a dead pixel and an issue with the USB. So they gave me a new screen and USB/mic/speaker module. Great service. Would have been nice to see more updates. Come on Sony. I have moved on to the 1 IV now but this little phone has done me proud for 4 years.

Battery life is not good as need to charge almost daily.

This phone is one of the best designed with fit just nicely in hand and not too big to fit on pocket. The overall shape design and camera has a great aesthetic look.

Xperia 5 offers great features, but it is giving me a big trouble with the fingerprint set up.

-Phone dimensions are just great. V sleek and handsome phone. -Great Camera once you go Manual mode -UI Skin used by sony especially the side sense -Right balance between battery capacity and the weight of the phone

This phone is great Value for Money. OLED 6.1 display is awesome. Integration with Google is nice. Photo quality and function is Great. One had usage is great. Still trying to explore Triple Lens camera effects and benefits. Battery life is OK. Overall very Satisfied.

I bought this a month ago, Its just simply awesome.

I was hesitant to buy the Xperia 5 because of the release of Xperia 5 II, but my doubt was unnecessary because the Xperia 5 is still a very good phone even for 2020 standard. Pros: -No additional bloatware or apps (very important in my opinion). -Display is great even thought lacking 4k like its successor. -Fingerprint sensor has been on spot for the whole period of my usage, at least never been faulty. -Snapdragon 855 gives off smooth performance for all my apps usage. -Side sense is a new thing for me, and it feels great and accurate. Might take some time to get used to but now it feels like a must for my phone. (I feel other phone brands' floating ball side bar opener annoying, so side sense is a plus to me for this as well) -Ambient look display sensitivity has been on spot (e.g. taking out of pocket). -The narrow but long screen may seems weird at first, but somehow feels good when holding landscape, especially when playing games. -Speaker is great for me, instead of boasting loud and clear, it somehow gives off a clear and accurate range of sound. -Availability to upgrade to Android 10 Cons: -Battery is a little lacking for today's standard. -No headphone jack doesn't feels right for me. (Mark II has though) -Due to the long and narrow screen, watching video and playing some games often has two blank bar when holding landscape. -No 5G. (But not a problem for me now) Neutral: -Not a photo enthusiast, so the camera's capability is very unknown to me. -Phone's color seems elegant (looks good to me) instead of dashing like phones nowadays, though to each their own. -Not sure if game enhancer does anything other than blocking notifications and phone calls when gaming, also a floating ball or bar when you game, but you can disable it anyway so not much of a problem. Summary: Even with the release of Mark II, Xperia 5 is still a very good device if you cannot afford the high end Xperia 5 II.

This is my fourth or fifth Xperia from the very first small sliding one, and I have always felt it's the best line of smartphone. But I am sad to say Xperia 5 is disappointing. Simple things that bug me: the camera turns on slowly; the phonelock is just too sensitive and I end up with a lot of apps accidentally opened after holding the phone in my hand/pocket; scanning of QR code is slow and often not successful; after just 4 months, the battery is sometimes flat at the end of the day. I used another brand just before this and I am impressed by how that brand has moved forward while Sony seems to have lost interest in developing its phone. A real shame

I use sony mobile for meny years I got the 5 After 3 m the charging port mess up After 1 year the sound quality go bad too

Poor quality front and rear camara. The phone side was gigantic. The Megapixels are very poor.

Bought my Red Xperia 5 last month to replace my outgoing Xperia XZ Premium Rosso Red. Wonderful experience as i always have with Sony. Easy to use. However i feel that the swiping up to reveal recent opened apps could be better implemented. Still much prefer the red in the XZ Premium. Hope to see a green Xperia phone soon

I bought this month as I was unable to power on my last XA1 phone one afternoon. This is my 3rd Xperia phone because I am very familiar with the UI and I think Xperia phones are quite underrated. Being able to fit the phone within one hand is a very fitting size for ladies. The big internal memory size has always been a big draw for me too. The night photos taken with the camera seem a little dark compared to Samsung and I am not sure if this is because I have not yet fully utilized the features or settings for the camera. I hope that I will be able to continue using the data cable to transfer data between my phone and the laptop using the USB preferences, instead of downloading and installing the software on my laptop for data transfer. This was the problem I had with my XA phone after one of the software updates. One other thing that I hope to see an improvement on is to change the adapter to a 3-pin plug instead of the 2-pin one as the 3-pin plug is more user friendly.

I just bought it 9 day ago n it's my 3rd phone from sony. I'm very satisfied with it...glad to have it.

I think Xperia 5 would be more popular if this product has wireless charging & super slow-mo video

As a long time Xperia user and upon seeing the reviews of the Xperia 5, I decided to give it a try. This was something new, original, and reminiscent to Sonys' previous generations of phone's, to which I enjoyed using. Astoundingly, this phone is small in size, comfortable in hand, but, with a large screen. While taking a different approach in terms of aspect ratio, the 21:9 form factor is very convenient under many situations, ones that I'd never thought to be useful. Movie watching, browsing the web, reading emails, text, just to name a few. Battery life is better that I initially expected. I'm able to get through most of the day without a charge. And if, I'm in need of charging, the quick charge will fill up the battery in no time. Did I mention the camera is astounding? Cinema Pro is something else entirely, truly innovating. Overall, I enjoy using this phone, and recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a new mobile device. Sony is heading in the right direction, and I believe it's worth your consideration.

I bought two phones two weeks ago, one this Xperia 5 and another of another very popular brand. That's when I realised how beautifully built the Xperia is. The next phone I get will definitely be another Xperia.

Was considering this and the bigger cousin range of X1 and X1m2 end up with this little one. Never let me down in terms of performance. Fits nicely in hand

So I switched from an Iphone, 7 plus years with apple. My main reason what that I could no longer do things with one hand with Iphone. I am always on the go and this phone fits in one hand, and that is amazing to me.. Also I would like to note the camera on this thing is amazing. And the software that comes with it is too..

After I using 3 weeks Xperia 5, the screen of phone was quite good in 21:9. I so much love on it. In the other part, such as camera, speaker, chipset also very nice. One of the part was not enough is the battery capacity, 3140mAh was abit less.

Here are some short reviews of the phone itself: - Performance is excellent as expected from Sony - Battery life is pretty decent despite having only 3140 mAh capacity in which it is able to last for about 7-8 hours on a continuous usage - Display is absolutely gorgeous and it beats the likes of Samsung - Has amazing stereo speakers that can be further enhanced by Dolby Atmos and the volume is quite loud at its maximum I did not regret buying this phone as this phone offers a great value for money! For those who are looking to buy an Xperia but have doubts, you have my assurance.

Fotograf moc nejsem ale s fotoaparátem pracuju výhradně v manuálním režimu.

Got this phone as a birthday gift and my previous phone, Xperia X was getting outdated. Loved the 21:9 screen and the resolution is just amazing. At the start, you will feel a bit uncomfortable wih the tall design but after a while you willbgetbuse to it. Very fast processor - little to no lags probably a bit after restart. Camera is good. Sound quality is okay.

no band71 support for rural areas in New Hampshire and Maine

Terrible oversight from Sony. No support for Tmobile's band 71(600 mhz spectrum) is a deal breaker. Having band 71 in New York City is the difference between good service and great service.

I bought this phone last december, and I´m pretty satisfied with it. Good cameras,and great performance. Im wondering if its going to get the Photo App from X1 mk 2 and nightmode trough updates, since they had impoved the fingerprint sensor, at least in my case.

The phone is nice fast and takes great photos which is what I got it for only problem the fingerprint scanner is faulty and unusable based off forums it's a very common issue with the Xperia 5 and Xperia 1. I'm hoping it's just an update fix and not a phone repair issue.

This is my 3rd Xperia. Though the price is super high for me and the less expensive one (Xperia 10) is not available in my country, I had no choice but to buy this one as I totally don't want to use any other brand. Xperia's design and camera has never failed to amaze me. Its durability is another point that keep me stick with the brand.

I bought the Xperia 5 a month ago and all features we're great, camera was good too. However, I have to say with the side sense feature, this makes the screen had a curved side that makes it quite fragile. My screen we're cracked due to a simple slip drop. This was 2 weeks I had the phone. I was really sad and yet disappointed. Hence, for my opinion I think this feature could be reviewed as it is extremely fragile. Also for me, a phone is meant to be consumer use. I had never had this with all my previous Sony model phones. This is not a cheap phone either. Also not sure about the speaker and mic features as I always have a very distortion high pitch sound when I am doing video calls.

Been using Sony phones for quite some time, always love the value for money for Sony flagship phones. While the Xperia 5 is a bit pricey, it manage to retain the pro of Sony phones while scraping away the cons from XZ2 and XZ3. Love the side fingerprint sensor where the thumb fits comfortably, which is one thing that is unique to Sony's design. The battery care function helps to prolong battery life when charging overnight. The SD card slot allows easy migration to a new phone.

There's no headphone jack and the dongle doesn't work. Other than that it's a very fast phone with a good battery.

Was very happy with the previous ones too, and Experia 5 seems to be very good so far.. U cant go bad with a Sony...

I have been an ardent user of Sony mobile phones since the SE days and the Xperia 5 does not disappoint. It is an amazing phone which I use together with my Xperia 1. I love the 3-lens camera, the wide screen, the vibrant color display, the sound and esp. the vibes. I also liked how Sony kept the finger scanner to where it is.

Camera app seems to freeze, eg. launching from WhatsApp. Not sure is this due to app or camera software. Error message - restart phone ? Video mode seems to hunt for focus, although phone is held in place and object is not moving too much? Maybe an update for the camera app is due?

i hope sony can produce more wide phone again. 76-80 mm

The phone is beautiful and built with good quality. - Camera is good but not great comparing to competitors. - Camera Launch error a few times. No Xperia Assistant (Focus Mode and Good Night), which is very bad.

Listening to music is great not to mention taking great picture!

My last Sony phone was with me almost 5 years. In between was not able to get new Sony phone as the News saying they are moving out of Sg. Thanks to the Sony Management for moving back again. If not, I won't be able to get this lady's handy size phone. The size is so nice fit into little wrist holder pouch, and the light weight with the slim size make this phone more comfortable to use with its one hand operations. Tried a challenge before, with another competitor phone, on the wide snap shots. Sony never fails as its captured were more clearer than the other.

Very good slim phone. fun to use. Some bugs in android 9.0 and no update of 10.0 in south east asia yet. Best display in class. 21:9 ratio is great for watching videos and sound is superb. Just feel like watching in theaters. Overall an excellent product by Sony. Not launched in India so bought from Singapore and very happy for my decision.

It's a great over-all phone. Good battery life that can last the entire day, very good camera, very smooth skin, everything I need is here.
