My main gripes with DSLR and CSC cameras adapted for video are the form factor and functionality. You see all these ridiculous rigs with various power sources, clumsy interconnects and multiple devices that all need to be recording... The XLR-K2M does away with all of that for compatable Sony CSC cameras. You have professional audio inputs with XLR connect and phantom power and physical switches and trim controls (not clumsy menu driven) and best of all, you still run off one battery to charge, replace, and have one record button to press. The supplied mic is good for run and gun, you'll want something off camera be it a cabled lavalier, radio or rifle mic, this is a flexible unit that gives you choices between self powered, mic level, line level.. essential for any film-maker serious about good in camera audio.

When I first got this microphone I knew something was wrong with it the sound was super low I purchase this back in June and I tried to contact Sony but there was no way to do so because of Covid well yesterday when I had it on my camera it fell over even though it was on the Sony tripod it fell on the carpet well it broke the way it fell it shouldn’t have broke so I can only assume they are cheaply made and to top it off Sony won’t help I contacted them yesterday and they replied today saying they don’t do replacements and sent me a link to a 3rd party place and their website wasn’t even secured and this microphone wasn’t even listed on their website to even be repaired I’m upset and never will I buy anything with the name Sony I shouldn’t stuck with Canon cameras and accessories I spent so much money for nothing and for them to blow me off and not even attempt to help was beyond me

The XLR-K2M has amazing sound, is built very nicely, and works excellent with my RX10.

Nice to have 2 XLR inputs a controls on camera, easy to use and captures good sound.

Had this for awhile, professional Audio, can even be removed and put on a boom pole.

I bought this but probably should have purchased the K1M!! The K2M can only be used on the hot-shoe. I wrongly thought I would be able to mount this somewhere else on a cage rig like you can with the K1M. Sony could easily resolve this by providing an extension lead but this product doesn't exist!!
