Words don't do this lens enough justice. But "Best Lens Ever" is pretty close. It does everything as advertised and takes excellent photos. I am very happy with my purchase.

I purchased this lens less than a month. I used it in Safari game shots. It comes in handy. The weight is appropriate for handheld shots. It is quick and responsive on my A1. I would recommend a built in 1.4x alternative for field shooting and , if possible, a camouflage color to avoid attractions and reflections while shooting through glasses. I am very satisfied with this lens overall.

I have just come back from tiger safari, when I used the Sony A1 with the 400mm f2.8, very light and a perfect choice

I was extremely pleased with the IQ of the Sony Primes vs the zooms lens. They are very expensive but less than Nikon. If you can justify the cost you will see a noticeable difference in IQ from the primes.

Just love it! The brightness of this lens is just amazing at F2.8mm. Most ideal and needed for nature photography. At 400mm it is also just nice.

I love every about the Len Except for the lens hood. It would be a lot better if it was like the Minolta 600 lines that I had at one time, the Lions hood slid back it did not come off the lens I really like that all you had to do was slide it back and twist it and lock it on and then put the lens cover on.

A first-class lens that works extremely well with the Sony 1.4 Teleconverter and hopefully it will work just as well with the 2x converter when it is delivered.

I've been using this lens for a couple of weeks now. The images are sharper than anything I've ever taken before.

Very light lens thats easy to handhold, It has super fast AF and produces stunning images I really love using this lens for bird and wildlife.

Simply the best 400mm 2.8 I ever had. Moved from Nikon to sony after 40 plus years.

Bought this recently and have been very impressed with build, quality of images and how light it is. Easy for transporting and with the 1.4 converter, turns it into a 560mm F4. I ave the A9 so with the crop button, the selection of lengths and DoF I have is very impressive,

Great lens for low lighting!! My pictures have not been achievable in this better quality, especially so with teleconverter use, am really glad that I made this decision.

Being a wildlife and bird photographer, this lens is amazing. Tack sharp with the 2X teleconverter. Mostly use it on the 7RIII with sharp and fast focus. The lens takes Sony to another standard. I am waiting for the 600 to be a available since sometimes I need a little more reach.

Had this lens for a couple of weeks, shooting polo matches professionaly. Coupled with and A9 its incredibly fast and very sharp.

全開成像都好銳利，對焦速度好快，加左1. 4完全沒有影響，加2.X後相對變慢左小小，同埋一定要用3腳架，因為震幅會變大，想手持快門要調得好快先得，同埋高光位要收細1，2格先可以無紫邊，整體來說，影暗位或動態大的一定唔可以加增距，最多只可以用1. 4，影水鳥或郁動幅度唔太大的可加2.x，另外枝鏡的手感真係好好，做到好平均，唔怕好似以前啲大鏡咁，頭重後輕， 另外分享2張相， 1張係大約2，3米左右影的，飛版係加2. X後的，都係直出版，因為買左枝鏡反來都係半個月左右，用得唔太好。

I hesitated a lot before buying this lens, regarding the price and usability, often saw the whole reviews related the lens. but once I’ve review results, I didn’t felt that I go wrong by this choice, it’s amazing, light, incredible fast, never missed the focus, so sharp edge to edge, really worth it 12 k

I bought the 400mm lens for the sole purpose of shooting local sports, and I have been very pleased with the results in combination with my 24mm GM and 70-200 GM. To top that off, I just placed a deposit for the 600mm and can't wait to receive it!

Amazing lens with VERY fast auto focus and excellent contrast. Works well with1X and 2X teleconverters! It really make a difference in my work.

Always wanted to invest in a PRO lens for my wildlife photography, and made the decision last month to go for this model. Not only is the quality of the built and quality of the photo extraordinary, I also love the fact I can carry this lens handheld for faster go to action scenes, as well as put it on tripod. And this wht 2x teleconverter, that extra reach and still mainting full control of the lens makes a big difference, still at f/5.6 Very hapy with it :-)

The auto focus paired with the A9 is "second to none". Best decision I've ever made was getting this lens.

An expensive lens but the quality justifies the price

Bought this lens for action on wildlife and bird. Using A6300 for test shot as waiting for new a9 ii. Colour, bokeh and sharpness is super!

Great picture quality and Great image stabilizer. Tele Lens with light weight!

I've owned a few big tele's ... This is by far the best, quick, accurate, super sharp and easy to hand hold - way, way better than anything I've ever used before !!!

Took this lens on safari in Sabi Sands, South Africa and it loved up to all of my expectations. Light, fast, sharp.

Received my lens 2 weeks ago after waiting 6 months. Lens is amazing. Light, quick focus and the sharpness in incredible.

I had problems with my cameras not detecting this lens occasionally. Both my A9 and A7R3. i had been communicating with my supplier and he had asked me update the firmware. Even after updating the A9 with Ver 3.10 and A7R3 with Ver 2.00 still had the intermittent problem. Sometimes both cameras detects the lens and sometimes both cameras do not detect the lens. The F# does not show in the camera and the lens cannot focus. I was supposed to send to the service center on Monday (29th Oct) morning and when I tested, it was working fine on both cameras. So I delayed until The problem showed up in the afternoon and sent it to the service center in Curve, Mutiara Damansara. I brought both the cameras for the technician to test and they confirmed the problem. They collected the lens and sent over to Sony repair center. I have been following up with the dealer and he tells me that Sony did not see any problem with the lens. I told him to inform Sony that it is an intermittent problem. I have 3 other lenses and I do not have problems with the cameras with these 3 lenses. Only correct solution is for Sony to take back this lemon and give me a replacement lens.
